About InnoChem
InnoChem was founded in 1996 in Pennsylvania, USA, by Dr. Johnson Chen, initially focusing on the development of environmentally friendly tin plating solutions (TINMS 300 and TINMS400) based on Methanesulfonic Acid (MSA 70%) and related electroplating chemicals. As a pioneer in MSA electroplating technology, the company developed a full range of tin plating solutions—from zero free acid to low-acid formulations (up to 20%)—and introduced proprietary processes that solved the long-standing challenges of acid accumulation and tin replenishment, significantly extending bath life and improving plating performance.
As the business evolved, InnoChem expanded beyond tin plating solutions into a broader range of metalworking chemicals, offering a diversified portfolio that includes:
·Cold and hot rolling oils for the steel industry
·Metalworking fluids such as cutting and grinding oils
·Industrial cleaners and quenchants
·Other specialty chemicals
On June 30, 2025, InnoChem China was officially established in Shanghai, marking a major milestone in the company’s global strategy and accelerating the localization and commercialization of technologies for the Chinese and Asian markets.

Dr. Johnson Chen — Founder
Dr. Chen founded InnoChem, Inc. in 1996 and served as President and Technical Director until his retirement a few years ago. With more than four decades of experience in specialty chemical research and process development, he has been the driving force behind InnoChem’s technical innovation and customer-focused philosophy.
As a visionary leader, Dr. Chen built InnoChem into a trusted partner in the electroplating industry by developing nontraditional, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible chemical solutions.
Before establishing InnoChem, Dr. Chen co-founded HECTRIO, Inc., where he successfully commercialized novel chemical processes with a focus on environmental protection and energy efficiency. Earlier in his career, he served as a Senior Research Scientist at Pennwalt Corporation (now Arkema Chemicals), where he contributed to process optimization and sustainable product development.
Dr. Chen earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Ohio University in the United States and a B.S. in Chemistry from Tunghai University in Taiwan. His scientific insight and enduring commitment to quality and sustainability continue to shape InnoChem’s growth and long-term success.
Dr. Xingmin Zhao
Dr. Zhao has held regional and global technical leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies and leading international lubricant firms, bringing extensive industry expertise.
He firmly believes that technological innovation is the driving force of business growth. With great passion, he promotes advances that improve product quality, optimize production efficiency, and reduce costs. A strong advocate of sustainability, Dr. Zhao emphasizes that innovation and new technologies are key to helping customers achieve greener, more sustainable development.
In 2024, Dr. Zhao joined InnoChem as Chairman and General Manager. Under his leadership, the company has expanded from a tin-plating specialty chemicals supplier into a comprehensive provider of metalworking solutions, with a portfolio that now includes steel rolling oils, metal cutting fluids, and other advanced products—significantly broadening its business scope.
Dr. Zhao graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tianjin University and pursued further studies at the Petroleum Institute of Ghent University in Belgium and the Department of Chemical Engineering at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
